Why should I use Drupal?

Fish Vision have been developing websites for over 15 years and have extensive experience building with Drupal. Our development team have extensive experience with theming, modules and API integrations. We have the experience to carefully select the right modules to have you up and running quickly, and ensure the CMS interface is built in an intuitive and easy to use way. We have experience user Drupal across branding, portfolio, ecommerce, and association & membership websites.

We love developing with Drupal because of its abilities in;

Customisation

Drupal is an extremely powerful platform and can be customised to handle any type of content from basic blog and content layouts to complex search logic, ecommerce, events registrations, member login areas and more. The platform is a natural fit for websites which have stock mangement and CRM integrations, multiple site admins, individualized access to private content such as membership areas, and more.

Flexibility

Drupal has an incredible amount of versatility, using the existing 23,000+ modules you can build virtually anything. Utilising Drupal's flexible approach to templating, we can easily put together the content structure and layer over the interface design to suite your brand style allowing for flexibility if a design update is desired while preserving the underlying structure.

Fish Vision have extensive experience in navigating the best ways to structure websites so clients do not have to concern themselves with knowing where and when to use taxonomies, content types, blocks, views, etc.

Scalability

Drupal powers sites large and small so whether you have traffic of 200 visitors a day, or 200,000, you can be sure that your website will be able to handle it. Drupal's powerful caching layer ensures that pages are loaded quickly and database load is kept to a minimum.

Drupal is particular great at managing complex sets of user accounts so is perfect for managing for customer and membership logins to view orders, activity and history. It also easily supports permissions so access to specific content areas can be controlled as well as publishing approval processes.

Security

Security is one of the biggest differentiators between Drupal and it's competitors such as Word Press. The platform has enterprise level security and is able to provide in-depth security reports. This level of security makes it is a first choice for governments, including whitehouse.gov and Australian state and federal websites.

Just like all good software, Drupal is constantly updated and improved so keeping a website up to date with the latest releases is a very important security measure.

The most recent version (Drupal 8) was released at the end of 2015 and with this release Drupal 6 was transitioned to unsupported status. With this transition the best recommendation to avoid any security vulnerabilities is to upgrade Drupal 6 websites to Drupal 8 as soon as possible. Drupal 7 currently continues to be supported.

With Drupal 8's release there has been an effort made to incorporate approaches found in frameworks like Symfony that are more common within the wider PHP community. Prior to the release of Drupal 8 it had a very steep learning curve and required specailised Drupal developers.

Fish Vision have experience in both older versions of Drupal and Drupal 8, as well as other PHP frameworks such as Symfony so have a very indepth knowledge of how to build the best websites and platforms to meet every need.

Whether you're looking to build a brand new site, or to migrate from 7 to 8, our team can help!
